Basketball Game Preview: Edwards Tigers vs. Booneville Blue Devils

The Edwards Tigers will face off against the Booneville Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Edwards is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Coahoma County by a score of 52-43. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Red Panthers are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Booneville was fully in charge on Monday, breezing past East Webster 66-29. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Booneville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Edwards, their record now sits at 7-16.

Everything came up roses for Edwards against Booneville when the teams last played back in February of 2020, as the team secured a 71-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edwards since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
