Baseball Recap: Chinle Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Chinle proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 14) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Page Sand Devils 5-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Sand Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kennon Sorrell and Hage Tsosie were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Sorrell pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Tsosie struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Sorrell has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sorrell went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Tsosie went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt James, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Chinle pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Page, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

As of now, neither Chinle nor the Sand Devils have any future games scheduled.
