Catholic Central's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Schalmont Sabres a 3-0 shutout. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 9-1 win the Sabres walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Catholic Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Schalmont, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.

Catholic Central and Schalmont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Crusaders will challenge La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (154 vs. 539). Meanwhile, Schalmont (ranked 106th) will meet Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (ranked 485th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
