Softball Recap: Elyria Comes Up Short

If Elyria was feeling good fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Avon on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berea-Midpark Titans on Friday. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Elyria saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaedence Niemeyer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

The defeat was their first on the road, dropping their record down to 7-4. As for Berea-Midpark, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Elyria and Berea-Midpark should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Pioneers (ranked 251st) will meet Vermilion (ranked 584th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Berea-Midpark will take on Strongsville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (200 vs. 478).
