Softball Recap: Woodland Wins Going Away Against Hockinson

Woodland won the last time they faced Hockinson and things went their way on Monday too. The Beavers put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 25-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Woodland got a massive performance out of Alexis Alpanalp, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Alpanalp a new career-high. Lexi Manalili was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Woodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Woodland and bumps their season record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Hockinson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Woodland will take on rival Washougal at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hockinson is set to square off against their familiar foe Hudson's Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
