Preview: Humboldt Cubs vs. West Franklin Falcons

Humboldt has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The West Franklin Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Humboldt will be strutting in after a victory while West Franklin will be coming in after a defeat.

A well-balanced attack led Humboldt over Cherryvale in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Humboldt blew Cherryvale out of the water with a 66-0 final score. The result was nothing new for Humboldt, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Humboldt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Mathes, who rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Blake Ellis was another key contributor, rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.

Meanwhile, West Franklin was beaten by Osage City 46-13 on Friday. West Franklin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-0.

Although West Franklin took the loss, they still got scores from Brody Prouty and Gavin Gonzales.

Humboldt has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matches, giving them a 6-1 record. As for West Franklin, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
