Basketball Preview: New Caney Eagles vs. Caney Creek Panthers
New Caney is 10-0 against the Panthers since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The New Caney Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Caney Creek Panthers at 7:00 p.m. New Caney is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
On Saturday, New Caney suffered a rough 67-46 defeat at the hands of the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, New Caney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 66th).
Caney Creek can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Oak Ridge by a score of 58-47. The victory was just what Caney Creek needed coming off of a 70-48 defeat in their prior game.
New Caney now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Caney Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 8-21.
New Caney was able to grind out a solid victory over the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, winning 57-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Caney since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
