Volleyball Recap: Highlands Christian Comes Up Short

If Highlands Christian was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Avant Garde Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlands Christian Knights lost 3-0 to the Pine Crest Panthers on Thursday. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

While Highlands Christian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.

Joshua Oliveira paced Highlands Christian's offense, picking up 11 kills. Oliveira got some help from Corbin Shein and his 15 assists. Finally, Joshua Esch kept Highlands Christian's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Highlands Christian now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Pine Crest, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Highlands Christian has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against David Posnack Jewish Day on the 18th. As for Pine Crest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Franklin Academy on the 19th.
