Van-Far waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Veritas Christian Academy Eagles as they made off with a 73-51 victory. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Van-Far to victory were Evan Utterback and Pacey Reading. Utterback went 7-for-13 en route to 22 points, while Reading dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards. Reading's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Gaven Gaston, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists.
Van-Far was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Veritas Christian Academy only seven assists.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Titus Murrell, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. Jake Markham was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Van-Far's win bumped their record up to 19-9. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.
Van-Far will challenge Clopton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Van-Far knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Clopton likes a good challenge. Veritas Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
