Senior forward helped Minot go 22-5, finish fifth in the Class A state tournament.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school basketball. America's source for high school sports
continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the
top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and
individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Darik Dissette of
Minot is the 2022-23 MaxPreps North Dakota High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 senior forward led the Magicians to a 22-5 record and a fifth place finish in the Class A state tournament.
For the season, Dissette averaged 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He broke the school record with 45 points in a January win over Mandan and poured in 30 or more points on nine other occasions.
Dissette, who played for a state title as a sophomore and helped Minot win the championship a year ago, finished his career with a school record 1,754 points and 659 rebounds. He signed with North Dakota State University in November.
Joe Hurlburt of
Enderlin was the 2021-22 North Dakota Player of the
Year.
Currently a freshman at the University of Colorado, Hurlburt averaged 25.2 points, 14.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game last season to guide the Eagles to the Region 1 championship game.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for
