Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. Westmont

The Lincoln Lions will face off against the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Lincoln after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Leigh by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Longhorns are ranked 150th).

Meanwhile, Westmont had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.6 goals) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They never let the Cougars onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Westmont pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for Lincoln, they now have a losing record at 5-6-4.
