Basketball Recap: Karnes City Comes Up Short

Karnes City lost against Nixon-Smiley back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Karnes City Badgers took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nixon-Smiley found their leader in sophomore Grace Gomez, who posted 12 points and five steals. Gomez is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Janice White was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and six steals.

Karnes City's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Nixon-Smiley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-17.

Karnes City will venture away from home to take on Stockdale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will host Poth at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Poth will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Nixon-Smiley surely won't give up without a fight.
