Basketball Recap: El Camino Drops Season-High Score on Summit Shasta

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Camino). They walked away with a 63-53 win over the Summit Shasta Black Bears on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

El Camino was led to victory by Eli Ledesma and Markson Jacques. Ledesma went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points, while Jacques dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Jacques also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryeln Vinas, who posted nine points.

El Camino was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for El Camino and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points over those games. As for Summit Shasta, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Coming up, El Camino won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Galileo at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colts' defense better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 53.8 points per game this season. Summit Shasta will take on Mills in a holiday battle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
