Softball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Eagles vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets
There's no place like home for Hiwassee Dam, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past the Hayesville Yellowjackets 11-1 on Friday. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Olivia McNabb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sky Taylor was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Bella Stiles also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
The victory got Hiwassee Dam back to even at 3-3. As for Hayesville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hiwassee Dam will challenge rival Robbinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hayesville is set to face off against their familiar foe Swain County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
