Basketball Game Preview: Selah Vikings vs. Prosser Mustangs

The Selah Vikings will head out to face off against the Prosser Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Selah knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matches -- so hopefully Prosser likes a good challenge.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Selah against Othello as the team secured a 75-48 victory. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Huskies are ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Prosser hadn't done well against Toppenish recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Prosser really took it to Toppenish for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-51 win. The Mustangs pushed the score to 67-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Prosser, bringing their record for this year to 15-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.3 points per game. As for Selah, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.

Selah took their victory against Prosser in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 65-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Selah since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
