League recap: Chicago Christian's league-best four wins lead to standings climb

Suburban Christian - Gold league recap: 4/3/13

Chicago Christian outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its four total wins led the league. The Knights beat Eisenhower 14-4, Walther Lutheran 10-7, the Broncos 8-1 and the Cardinals 15-1.

Aurora Central Catholic made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to second place in Suburban Christian - Gold thanks to a 3-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fifth place after going 0-2 in the past week. Chicago Christian (9-1, 2-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

Guerin College Preparatory boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Walther Lutheran's Mark Kocjancich was locked in this week, and led the league with a .429 average (3-for-7) over that span. For the season, he's hitting .400, good for seventh in the league. Kocjancich has accumulated four base knocks this year so far.



Steven Lams struck out eight in the Knights' 10-7 win over the Broncos on April 1. He gave up ten hits and ten runs over five innings of work.
