Volleyball Recap: Okemos Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Lakeland

Okemos faced Lakeland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolves fell 2-0 to the Eagles. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Erik Howe paced Okemos' offense, picking up three kills. Howe got some help from Gavin Freidhoff and his four assists. Finally, Daniel Wesley kept Okemos' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Okemos' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Lakeland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Okemos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Catholic Central on the 12th. As for Lakeland, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walled Lake Central at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
