Basketball Recap: Canterbury Takes a Loss

Canterbury extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a hard 56-37 fall against the Oasis Sharks. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in January.

Despite the loss, Canterbury saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Minton posted 12 points.

As for Oasis, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 69.0 points this season.

Johnny Cernuska was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (five). Austin Louzao was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Canterbury will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Oasis, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-68 victory against Barron Collier on the 21st.
