Herscher's season-opener on Thursday wasn't quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. They and the Crete-Monee Warriors finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The outcome might've been different if Luis Parra hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

He and Rowan Keigher scored both of Herscher's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Crete-Monee's draw gives them a new season record of 1-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herscher will venture away from home to square off against Watseka at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Herscher are facing Watseka at the right time seeing as Watseka are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Crete-Monee, they will head out to challenge Agricultural Science at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
