Volleyball Recap: Green Valley Wins High-Profile Game Against Las Vegas + How To Watch

Green Valley faced Las Vegas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Gators came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

The victory didn't come easy: Las Vegas scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19.

Green Valley can attribute much of their success to Ella Varner, who had 14 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Varner has posted since back in October of 2024. Vanielis Mulero also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Las Vegas' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Veanka Escobedo, who had 23 digs and one assist, and Aaliyah Jones, who had 13 digs, 11 kills, four blocks, and two aces. With that strong performance, Escobedo is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Green Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Las Vegas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Green Valley has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Basic on the 25th. As for Las Vegas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Spring Valley on the 21st.
