Baseball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Katella Knights

For the second straight game, Costa Mesa will face off against Katella. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Costa Mesa is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Thursday, Costa Mesa had just enough and edged out Katella 3-2.

For Katella's part, Ben Villela was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Isaiah Munoz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Costa Mesa's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Katella, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.
