Malakoff had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down the Mineola Yellowjackets 51-34. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 456th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Malakoff has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Mineola, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-14.

Malakoff will welcome Grand Saline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mineola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Winona at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineola is facing Winona at the right time seeing as Winona is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
