Softball Recap: Westminster Christian Beats St. Brendan for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Westminster Christian had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came out on top against the St. Brendan Sabres by a score of 5-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Kaley Dyer's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mya Rodgers was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

Westminster Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matches.

Westminster Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Brendan, they moved to 13-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Westminster Christian has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) on the 16th. As for St. Brendan, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gulliver Prep at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th. The Sabres' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
