Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Granville Blue Aces. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-19, 24-26, 25-20.

Jaycie Montie paced Lakewood's offense, picking up 13 kills. Montie got some help from Josie Lynch and her 34 assists. Finally, Melena Brunner kept Lakewood's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Granville was led to victory by Happy Rhoton and Emma Gulledge. Rhoton had 13 digs and two aces, while Gulledge had 16 assists and nine digs. That's the most digs Gulledge has posted since back in October of 2024.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Granville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Heath on the 26th. As for Granville, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Licking Valley on the 26th.
