Baseball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Union City Golden Tornadoes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since March 21st.

Garrett Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Dylan Stranak made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Madison: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-8-1 otherwise.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10-1. As for Union City, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Madison will welcome Scotts Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Union City, they will head out on the road to take on Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
