Basketball Recap: Frewsburg Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Frewsburg had won two straight home games and Blake Weaver did his part to make it three on Friday. The Frewsburg Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 win over the Portville Panthers thanks in part to Weaver, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Trent Lewis, who had 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played.

Frewsburg is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.5% in those games and 26.6% outside of them. As for Portville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Frewsburg is taking a road trip to challenge Cassadaga Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-59 victory against Ellicottville on the 8th.
