Preview: Jasper Vikings vs. Ramsay Rams
Jasper is 5-0 against Ramsay since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Jasper Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ramsay Rams at 5:00 p.m. Jasper is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 16 games.
Jasper stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They breezed by Hayden at home to the tune of 76-16. Given Jasper's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Hayden is ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jasper's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Hollingsworth, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Hollingsworth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Missy Odom, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ramsay beat Huffman 47-42 on Thursday.
Jasper pushed their record up to 25-4 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.9 points. As for Ramsay, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Jasper strolled past Ramsay in their previous meeting last Saturday by a score of 42-27. Does Jasper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ramsay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
