Basketball Preview: Port Aransas Marlins vs. Woodsboro Eagles

Port Aransas is 10-0 against the Eagles since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Port Aransas Marlins will head out on the road to square off against the Woodsboro Eagles at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Port Aransas has nine straight wins, the Eagles have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Port Aransas sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over the Bobcats.

Meanwhile, Woodsboro lost to the Bobcats on the road by a decisive 38-21 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Woodsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1427th, while the Bobcats are ranked 623rd).

Woodsboro's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jaqulynn Tully, who scored 19 points.

Port Aransas is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Woodsboro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 20 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season.

Port Aransas strolled past the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 54-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Aransas since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
