Softball Recap: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Beats Greater New Bedford RVT for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They never let the Greater New Bedford RVT Bears get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Not much got past Edy LaTour, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Greater New Bedford RVT off the board. LaTour has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cam Cloonan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Eva Ainsworth also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Greater New Bedford RVT, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dighton-Rehoboth Regional will head out to take on Bourne at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons are facing the Canalmen at the right time seeing as the Canalmen are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Greater New Bedford RVT, they will head out on the road to challenge Seekonk at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
