Preview: Clarkrange Buffaloes vs. Jellico Blue Devils
The Clarkrange Buffaloes are on the road again on Monday and play against the Jellico Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Clarkrange fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Van Buren County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 76-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that Clarkrange has lost by exactly six points.
Despite their loss, Clarkrange saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kristopher Beaty, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryton Swallows, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jellico earned a 59-52 win over Oliver Springs on Friday.
Clarkrange's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Jellico, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Clarkrange beat Jellico 91-82 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarkrange since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
