Softball Preview: Franklinville Panthers vs. Ellicottville Eagles
Franklinville hasn't had much luck against Ellicottville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Franklinville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Franklinville couldn't beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley on Tuesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fifth inning. The Panthers took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timberwolves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (ten), the Panthers still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellicottville). They blew past Hinsdale Central 12-0 on Friday. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024 (when they won 19-2).
Ellicottville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Franklinville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
