Baseball Recap: Schaumburg Christian Takes a Loss

South Beloit hit Schaumburg Christian with a five-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Conquerors might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Sobos, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Conquerors in their meetings with the Sobos: they've now lost four in a row.

Schaumburg Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Schaumburg Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for South Beloit, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schaumburg Christian will host Marian Central Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Beloit, they will be playing at home against Forreston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
