Baseball Recap: St. David Comes Up Short

Mogollon hit St. David with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grant Haymore was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Haymore wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Brogan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

St. David's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Mogollon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

St. David didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-4 defeat against Bagdad on the 27th. As for Mogollon, they will host San Manuel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
