Baseball Recap: Mica Mountain Gets the Win

Mica Mountain's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Sabino Sabercats get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Sabercats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Cole Lohrenz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nathan Ramirez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Almand, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases.

Mica Mountain's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Sabino, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mica Mountain will take on Salpointe Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Sabino, they will face off against Tanque Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
