Baseball Game Preview: Tooele Buffaloes vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs

The Tooele Buffaloes will square off against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Tooele saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Kanab by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Carson Freeman spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs beat Clearfield 7-4 on Friday.

Crimson Cliffs also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: STATON KRANENDONK gave up four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for KRANENDONK.

On the hitting side, Crimson Cliffs got a big performance out of JACKSON WITTWER, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. CUTTER CHRISTENSEN also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Crimson Cliffs' win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Tooele, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Tooele suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Crimson Cliffs in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Tooele avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
