Baseball Recap: Bangor's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Bangor hadn't done well against Mendon recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vikings came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 7-3. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 18-1 win the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Jaret McCoy was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bangor's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 4-14 when he doesn't).

McCoy wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Terrance Payn, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Payn has become a key player for Bangor: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-14 otherwise. Another was Julian Pullins, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bangor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mendon only posted a batting average of .105.

Bangor's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-15. As for Mendon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Bangor will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
