Basketball Recap: Dodson Takes a Loss

Dodson played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Big Sandy Pioneers, falling 81-48. The Coyotes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-25.

Despite the loss, Dodson still got an impressive performance from Lance KillEagle, who posted 21 points. KillEagle is becoming a predictor of the Coyotes' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Jones, who scored ten points.

Big Sandy found their leader in sophomore Aidan Morsette, who almost dropped a double-double with 30 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morsette has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Karter Jurenka, who almost dropped a triple-double with nine points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

Dodson now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Big Sandy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Dodson will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Frazer at 6:30 p.m. As for Big Sandy, they will head out on the road to take on Roy/Winifred at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
