Volleyball Game Preview: Green River Pirates vs. Bryce Valley Mustangs

After both having extra time off, the Green River Pirates and the Bryce Valley Mustangs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Green River is leaving town to face Bryce Valley after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Pirates lost 3-0 to Tintic on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered against the Miners since October 30, 2015.

Green River was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Tintic work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 27-25, 25-19.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bryce Valley and Pinnacle meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2.

Bryce Valley took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-10, 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-5.

Green River took their victory against Bryce Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
