Baseball Recap: Hanover-Horton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hanover-Horton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Michigan Center Cardinals on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

Luke Soper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cameron Sherwood was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 14 matches. Another player making a difference was Lukas NaDell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hanover-Horton pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Michigan Center, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hanover-Horton beat the Cardinals by a score of 15-2 later that day.
