Baseball Recap: Luling's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Luling came into Friday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Stockdale Brahmas 7-5. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kade Samuelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Samuelson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kase Conley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cade Royall, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Luling's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-14. As for Stockdale, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11-1.

Looking ahead, Luling will welcome Karnes City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stockdale, they will face off against Nixon-Smiley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something the Brahmas will no doubt try to take advantage of.
