Grimsley took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northern Guilford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Whirlies had just enough and edged out the Nighthawks 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Whirlies, who have now won six contests in a row.

Noah Christensen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grimsley's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Rainwater, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Grimsley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northern Guilford, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grimsley beat the Nighthawks by a score of 3-0 on Friday.
