Basketball Recap: Ysleta Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fabens

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ysleta). They pulled ahead with a 39-38 photo finish over the Fabens Wildcats on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ysleta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Audrina Landavazo, who posted seven points and three steals. Those seven points gave Landavazo a new career-high.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Destiny Barraza, who earned 11 points. Another player making a difference was Esmeralda Hernandez, who had nine points.

Ysleta's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-19. As for Fabens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Ysleta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 34-24 loss against San Elizario on the 31st. As for Fabens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-15 defeat against Riverside on the 31st.
