Baseball Recap: Greeneview's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Greeneview waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Fairbanks Panthers as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Rams have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Max Penrod and Nick Hassid were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Penrod pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hassid didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Penrod scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hassid scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Moore, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Walker, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Greeneview pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fairbanks, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Greeneview will head out to challenge Cedarville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairbanks, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. The Golden Gophers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
