Half Moon Bay dropped down to 8-4 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Branham Bruins. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bruins 15-7 in the first quarter.

Paxton Holden threw for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brendon Melo was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

As for Branham, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.5 points over those games.

Branham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Murphy led the charge by rushing for 179 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Murphy's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Andrew Ho, who threw for 180 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
