Baseball Recap: Upper Merion Area Comes Up Short

Upper Merion Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Township Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 11-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2016.

Upper Merion Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teddy Walmsley, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Sean Rogers was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Upper Merion Area's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Springfield Township, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Upper Merion Area has already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against Pope John Paul II on the 25th. As for Springfield Township, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-2 defeat against Archbishop Wood on the 25th.
