Basketball Recap: Charlie Horne's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Prout over Ponaganset

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Prout can now relate to. They fell just short of the Ponaganset Chieftains by a score of 74-71 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Horne, who en route to 20 points and five boards. The match was Horne's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Antonucci, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Prout's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Ponaganset, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.

Prout does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ponaganset, they will take on Mt. Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ponaganset surely won't give up without a fight.
