Basketball Recap: Mahpiya Luta Picks Up 21st Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and Mahpiya Luta had no trouble coming through when it counted. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Pine Ridge Thorpes 81-17. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Mahpiya Luta to victory were Ashlan Carlow-Blount and Jodene Big Crow-Hunter. Carlow-Blount went 12-for-19 to rack up 27 points in addition to eight boards and six assists, while Big Crow-Hunter went 10-for-13 on her way to 23 points and six steals. Carlow-Blount has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 46 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dorthie Mesteth, who posted eight points and eight steals.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 21-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.1 points. As for Pine Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.

Coming up, Mahpiya Luta will square off against St. Thomas More on Thursday. St. Thomas More will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mahpiya Luta surely won't give up without a fight. Pine Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
