Basketball Game Preview: Skyline Raiders vs. Mesquite Skeeters

The Skyline Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Mesquite Skeeters at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Skyline and seven for Mesquite.

Skyline is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Lancaster on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Skyline lost 72-49 to Lancaster. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.

Meanwhile, Mesquite came up short against Cedar Hill on Friday and fell 80-72. While losing is never fun, the Skeeters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Longhorns are ranked 134th).

Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.

Skyline didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mesquite when the teams last played on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Skyline since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
