Softball Recap: Wetumpka Extends Home Winning Streak to 27

Wetumpka entered their tilt with Opelika on Wednesday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Opelika Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 19, 2024.

Abigail Adams tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks every time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Davenport, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she's hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Farmer, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Wetumpka hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.
