Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings vs. St. Raymond Boys Ravens

The St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Raymond Boys Ravens at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

While St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's win against Regis wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Raiders 2-1.

Anthony Garofalo tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gioacchino Bonsangue, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Raymond Boys). They blew past Monsignor Scanlan 21-6 on Monday. The Ravens have beaten the Crusaders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Crusaders has come to flipping the script.

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Raymond Boys, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

St. Joseph-by-the-Sea beat St. Raymond Boys 6-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
